I should have kept the dog in the attic

So we have a raccoon in the attic. And my lovely dog has hurt his back playing ball too vigorously in the yard. $$$ to get the humane critter-control people to come. $$$ for the vet bill. It seems I could have avoided both problems if I'd kept the dog in the attic.
